    Hi:

Are you on a VPS/Dedicated server or a shared hosting account? If you're on a VPS or dedicated server try downgrading your PHP to 5.6 thanks to BTNGaming for the suggestion, If you're on a shared server, you'll need to ask your service provider to downgrade the PHP for you.

Also, where did you obtain your files from as sometimes the people who null vbulletin can try to slip in extra code and it breaks the installation, please try downloading the 4.2.3 version from the 4.x releases area, deleting all the files from your server and seeing if that helps.

should all else fail, try getting a VPS or dedicated server (if you can afford it) and custom install Apache, PHP, and MySQL making sure to use PHP 5.6

    Hope these solutions help.

Note that I did not come up with these solutions, multiple members came up with this stuff and I just ran the appropriate searches.

    Have a great day.
    Thanks:

Sounds like a PHP 7 issue on vB 4.2.3. Downgrade to PHP 5.6
